morbidly true story...

This is a true story...
I was at the funeral for a co-workers husband many years ago, and I was talking with some friends at the funeral home, and the priest who gave a small talk was standing close by and overheard me say, "I am not a morning person.."
To which he out of context took me aside and really laid into me for being so crass and cruel...
After finally calming him down and explaining I meant MORNING not MOURNING...well he gave a small fake laugh and slunk away....

Everything Is Beautiful

When life sometimes gets me down, this is one of the songs that lifts me up and confirms to me that even though I am rather old-fashioned and a bit naive in my thinking that there is beauty in all people, and that there is much to enjoy.
No I am not preachy or overly religious, but rather I draw from this song the fact that people are people, and there is beauty in all of us...

Mother's Day

For my Mom. I wish you could take a victory lap on this Mothers' Day, for you so deserve such. You have been an inspiration (along with Dad), an outstanding mother to 3 sons, a good wife to a very grateful husband, twice a cancer survivor - so much so that you dedicated many years volunteering to counsel women who'd recently had mastectomies performed.
You (as well as Dad) taught me so much, especially to treat people with respect, and that a person is not what you see, but rather who they truly are when you take the time to learn and know about them.
I could write on for many many paragraphs about the amazing life you have lived, all you have done and all that you have brought to so many lives, but I will instead close by saying thank you for allowing me to call such a special woman my Mom.

To all the Moms out there. I wish you a very Happy Mother's Day. From my heart I thank you, and want you to know that parents are THE most vital means to make the world better, for you help erase prejudices, and all the other ignorances that must be eradicated. I know my parents taught me so much, and that one of the most vital lessons was that people are people, and that we aren't different, we are only unique:)
I can't begin to say I know how hard a job being a Mom is, but as you know - it is a labor of love.
My hope for you is simple - may you live a long life, filled with happiness, good health, peace, patience and that may you only shed tears of joy.
A good Mom starts out being a parent, but also ends up being a lifetime friend.

Carved in stone.....

I have always been thoughtful as to what I say and how I say it.
ie, I have never used the words 'I love you' unless I truly meant it.
Anyone who I have ever told them 'I love you' I do and always will, and have that etched into my heart.
But sadly some people seem to say such things and have written it with an etch-a-sketch on their hearts.
All joking and sarcasm aside - always live by that old saying to, mean what you say and say what you mean.
